Overview of the Internship Programme
The University of the Free State (UFS) is offering 7 internship positions under the Graduation Positioning Support (GPS) programme.
This internship is aimed at supporting student success through advising, tutoring, and data-driven student support initiatives. Successful candidates will gain hands-on experience in academic support, research, and student engagement within a university environment.
Internship Programme Details
* Position: GPS Success Coaches Intern (x7)
* Job ID: 6417
* Duration: 12 months (contract)
* Location: Bloemfontein Campus
* Monthly Stipend: R9,497.50
* Start Date: 01 June 2026
* Closing Date: 10 April 2026
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
* Bachelor’s Degree or B-Tech Degree (NQF Level 7)
Inherent Job Requirements
* Minimum of 1 year relevant experience as:
+ Tutor
+ Student assistant
+ Teaching assistant
+ Participation in student leadership programmes
Additional Selection Criteria
Applicants must:
* Not be currently participating in another internship or learnership
* Not have previous formal work experience
* Be willing to sign an internship agreement
* Be available for the full 12-month period
Recommended Qualifications and Skills
* Honours Degree (NQF Level 8)
* Knowledge of teaching and learning support
* Microsoft Excel skills
* Strong verbal communication skills
Key Responsibilities
Successful interns will:
* Provide support via calls, emails, and messages to students
* Assist with student tracking and support initiatives
* Capture and manage student data and reports
* Conduct research and support academic projects
* Provide tutoring and advising support
* Participate in training and development programmes
